Storm set to announce new Slater deal

Melbourne are expected to announce on Thursday that star fullback Billy Slater has signed a two-year contract extension.

According to News Corp Australia, Slater struck the deal on Wednesday following lengthy negotiations with the Storm, where he has played since 2003 after being taken on as a 19-year-old.

It would keep the veteran at the club until the end of the 2017 NRL season, when he will be 34, and likely finish his career as a one-club NRL player alongside skipper Cameron Smith.

The club have called a press conference for 10am on Thursday.
