Stick with league Semi: Radradra’s dad

Semi Radradra’s father wants the tearaway winger to remain in the NRL.

Radradra is in Fiji to discuss his playing future as speculation mounts he could exit the NRL to take up a more lucrative contract with French rugby club Bordeaux.

However if Radradra’s father, Samisoni Waqavatu, has anything to do with it, the try-scoring machine will remain in return to the Eels.

“I just want him to play league,” he told Fox Sports News.

Waqavatu did however say he would leave the decision with Radradra and whether he wanted to return to the 15-man game he played before joining the NRL.

Radradra is also likely to be urged to stick with rugby league by his uncle, who believes the 24-year-old should see out his contract at Parramatta before making any possible move.

“The best for him is to continue with the Eels to finish off his contract,” Nemani McComber said.

“If at then he wants to jump into rugby union then that’s his decision if he wants to do it.”

Parramatta expect Radradra to return to Sydney on Sunday during the club’s bye weekend, ahead of Saturday week’s away clash with Cronulla.

The club and Radradra’s manager each said on Tuesday the reports he would be heading to France were wrong, but the player himself later said he was yet to make up his mind and waiting to talk with family.
