St George Illawarra Dragons vs Manly Sea Eagles 2013 NRL Round 8 preview and tips

Round eight concludes with the Dragons hosting the Manly on Monday night.

The home team had toughed out three wins (Sharks, Knights and West Tigers) leading into their traditional Anzac clash with the Roosters but found the Bondi boys in a rich vein of form and were dealt a 34-10 defeat.

Similarly the Sea Eagles were looking to also register their fourth straight win after accounting for West Tigers, Bulldogs and Sharks when hosting the South Sydney Rabbitohs at Brookvale last Friday night.

Manly had the better of the opening half but were unable to convert that pressure into points before three tries in the first 15 minutes of the second half, were enough to see the Rabbitohs hold off a late challenge and win 20-12.

The Dragons have had the better of recent times, winning four of the six matches since 2010 but that was during a golden period for the Dragons that is somewhat fading this year.

They’re dug in for the fight in recent weeks but fancy that Manly’s hitout against the Rabbitohs last week – their first against a team in the top four, was just what they needed.

The last four clashes between the two sides hasn’t seen the total match points exceed 30.

TIP: MANLY 1-12
