News :

Josh Dugan will undergo scans on Monday amid fears a knee injury suffered in Australia’s Anzac Test could rule him out of State of Origin I.

Dugan suffered the injury late in Australia’s 26-12 loss to the Kiwis in Brisbane on Sunday, after colliding with Greg Eastwood in a tackle.

The St George Illawarra star will undergo an MRI scan on Monday, the NRL club said, without giving any indication how long Dugan might be sidelined for.

NSW coach Laurie Daley selects his side for the Origin opener on May 19 and has indicated he won’t take any players under an injury cloud into the Blues camp ahead of Game I in Sydney on May 27.

“Josh sustained what is suspected to be a knee injury while on international duty for Australia,” Dragons physiotherapist Dan Lawson said.

“He will undergo an initial MRI scan on Monday to assess the injury before a determination is made later on in the week.”

The Dragons said the full extent of Dugan’s injury should be known on Wednesday, ahead of their round nine fixture against South Sydney on Monday week.
