Sport’s cocaine scandal to reach court

Code-hopping sports star Karmichael Hunt and two of the five Gold Coast Titans NRL players facing drug charges are expected to face a Gold Coast court on Thursday morning.

Queensland Reds player Hunt, who has also played in the NRL and AFL, is facing four charges of supplying cocaine after being served with a notice to appear in court by Queensland’s Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC) last month.

Titans player of the year Beau Falloon and fringe first-grader Jamie Dowling are also expected to face Southport Magistrates Court in the scandal which has rocked Queensland sport.

Falloon, 27, is also facing four counts of supply while Dowling, 24, is facing seven charges of possessing a dangerous drug and two counts of supply.

An unnamed 22-year-old woman, reportedly Falloon’s partner, is also set to face court on two counts of supply.

Fellow Titans Greg Bird, Dave Taylor and Kalifa Faifai Loa are expected to face court on Monday along with former teammates Ashley Harrison and Joe Vickery.

The CCC has also issued an arrest warrant for former Titan Steve Michaels, who is currently playing in England’s Super League competition.
