South Sydney star Sam Burgess is facing a one-match suspension in the wake of the NRL leaders’ upset loss to Cronulla.
Burgess has been charged with grade one dangerous contact to the neck or head, following a high tackle on new NSW Origin forward Andrew Fifita during Monday night’s NRL match.
While the charge carries only 100 base points, he faces a one-game ban unless he successfully contests it at an NRL hearing an early guilty plea would not be enough to get off because of prior similar charges.
