Preview:

The final game of the shortened round looks a lob-sided affair with competition leaders South Sydney, taking on St. George who have lost their last three games and five of their last six.

South Sydney made it five wins in a row with victory over New Zealand in Perth in their most recent match two weeks ago.

Coming from a 13 – 6 deficit at half-time, the Rabbithos registered 24 unanswered points in the second half to record a comfortable 30 – 6 win.

They face St. George here whom they have beaten the last three times the sides have met by margins of 10, 1 and in their most recent clash in round 20 of last year, 22 points.

The Rabbitohs have displayed in their sixteen wins this year, that they are capable of leading, running opponents down or toughing it out a close finish.

It’s hard to find a chink in their armour and would think if there is one, the struggling St. George are not the team to find or exploit it.

It’s been a horrendous season for the Dragons who with five wins this season, sit above only Parramatta on the competition ladder.

Expecting the Rabbitohs to make it, quite comfortably, six wins in a row.

Dragons sign Sam Williams for 2014

St George Illawarra have signed halfback Sam Williams from Canberra on a one-year NRL deal starting in 2014.

Williams had been strongly linked to the Dragons after failing to play regular first grade this year with the Raiders, after starring in their charge to the finals last season.

The Dragons couldn’t put together a deal for Williams before the June 30 deadline, meaning he can’t play for them this season but he will add some much needed spark to the joint venture’s attack next year.

Williams will join Melbourne playmaker Gareth Widdop in the halves for the Dragons in 2014.

A former Raiders rookie of the year, Williams appears to have fallen out of favour at Canberra with Terry Campese and Josh McCrone coach David Furner’s preferred halves combination.

The 22-year-old Williams will join the Dragons in November ahead of the 2014 NRL season with an option for a second season in 2015.

He has played seven games for Canberra this year and will feature in the NSW Residents side against Queensland Residents in the curtain raiser to Wednesday’s State of Origin decider.
