Snapshot of round seven of the NRL

WHAT HAPPENED IN ROUND SEVEN OF THE NRL:

* Quote of the round: “Who are we playing next week?” – Wayne Bennett plays dumb when asked about facing former club Brisbane next week.

* Stat that matters: The Sydney Roosters’ 20-10 win over St George Illawarra gave the defending premiers their sixth win in their opening seven games to remain at the top of the table, which is their best start to a season since 1999.

* Magic moment: St George Illawarra fullback Matt Dufty’s electric 60-metre try is certain to be on highlight reels for years to come, beating six players, including James Tedesco, on his way to the tryline for a famous Anzac Day try.

* Talking point: The outcome of the Jack de Belin court case against the NRL is expected to be decided early next week, which will likely have huge ramifications for the future of a number of players, and possibly even ARL Commission chairman Peter Beattie.

* Man of the round: Sydney Roosters forward Sio Siua Taukeiaho racked up a game-high 257 metres, broke five tackles and scored the game-sealing try in a powerhouse performance in their win over the Dragons.

* Judiciary watch: Penrith – Sione Katoa (dangerous contact); Wests Tigers – Chris McQueen (dangerous contact), Alex Twal (dangerous throw); Cronulla – William Kennedy (tripping).

* Casualty ward: Sydney Roosters – Jake Friend (biceps); St George Illawarra -Ben Hunt (shoulder); Warriors – Roger Tuivasa-Sheck (hamstring), Blake Green (groin); Wests Tigers – Josh Reynolds (knee); Gold Coast – Dale Copley (leg); Cronulla – Shaun Johnson (hamstring), Josh Dugan (hamstring); Manly – Daly Cherry-Evans (ankle), Jorge Taufua (leg); Canberra – Jordan Rapana (ribs).

* Under pressure: It may have been an improved performance by Penrith, but their four-point loss to South Sydney leaves them in 13th spot with just two wins from their opening seven games. None of the sides from the bottom four last year at this point in the season made the finals.
