Smith under fire over McKinnon tackle

Alex McKinnon is “disgusted” by Cameron Smith’s reaction to the tackle that ended his NRL career.

McKinnon was badly hurt against Smith’s Melbourne side in March last year but the Queensland and Australia captain could be clearly heard over the referee’s microphone arguing with the official about the resulting penalty.

“If he doesn’t duck his head, that doesn’t happen,” Smith said.

In an interview with News Corp Australia on Sunday, McKinnon has said it is “disgusting” to blame him for his role in a tackle that paralysed him.

In comments released from a Channel Nine 60 Minutes documentary to be aired on Sunday, the former St George Illawarra and Newcastle forward described Smiths actions as “f***ing ridiculous”.
