Veteran Queensland superstar Billy Slater has been ruled out of Wednesday’s State of Origin series opener at the MCG with a hamstring injury.
Fullback Slater confirmed on Monday he will miss the clash, which would have been his third last for Queensland ahead of his representative retirement.
The Maroons have confirmed Anthony Milford and Kalyn Ponga will be flown to Melbourne as potential replacements.
