Scott to be NRL Cowboy for life: report

Matt Scott is set to become a North Queensland Cowboy for life after reportedly signing a new two year deal with the NRL club.

North Queensland released a statement saying they would make a special player announcement at 1230pm AEDT on Thursday.

Scott – 32 in July – looks to have stuck with the Cowboys after Newcastle withdrew a lucrative three-year deal when the Test and Queensland prop suffered a season-ending knee injury two weeks ago.

Scott’s signature would be a shot in the arm for North Queensland’s pack, which lost Test prop James Tamou to Penrith while former Queensland forward Ben Hannant retired in the off-season.

The Cowboys have further bolstered their forward stocks by recruiting Melbourne giant Jordan McLean from 2018.

Scott began his NRL career with North Queensland in 2004.
