Scott out for one match for Origin tackle

NSW and Newcastle forward Beau Scott will miss one NRL match after submitting an early guilty plea for his tackle on Queensland skipper Cameron Smith in the Blues’ massive State of Origin decider loss.

Scott, who was hit with a grade-one dangerous throw charge by the NRL match review committee in NSW’s 52-6 capitulation, will sit out the Knights’ clash with Canberra on Friday.

Meanwhile, his Blues teammate Trent Merrin is facing a four-week stint out after being charged with a grade two dangerous throw on Corey Parker in the first half on Wednesday.

Even if the St George Illawarra back-rower takes the early guilty plea he will be slapped with a four-game ban due to carry-over points.

James Tamou will also miss one game if he takes the early plea after being charged with a grade one striking for a clumsy effort on Jacob Lillyman in the second half.
