Scans clear Souths’ Reynolds of injury

South Sydney halfback Adam Reynolds is set to play in Thursday night’s crucial NRL clash with Canterbury after being cleared of a hamstring injury.

Reynolds limped from the field late in Saturday’s 22-10 loss to North Queensland at ANZ Stadium, with team officials fearing the worst.

But scans on Sunday came back negative, and Rabbitohs’ high performance manager Troy Thomson said he was free to play this week.

“With his history and the hamstring troubles he’s had, we obviously all thought the worst there to start off with,” he told the club’s website.

“But it’s probably just a bit of a spasm coming from his back.

“We made the decision to take him off at the back end of the game there just to be cautious – but it’s turned out ok so he’ll be right to go for us this weekend.”

Skipper John Sutton is also a chance of returning from a knee injury suffered in round 20, according to Thomson.

“We’re going to try push him again for Thursday night, we’ll see how we go,” he said.

“If not, we’re definitely confident for next week.”
