Chris Sandow is hopeful of making a return to the NRL in 2017 with at least three clubs believed to be interested in the halfback.

The 27-year-old former Parramatta playmaker is back in Australia after controversially walking out on the final year of his UK Super League contract with Warrington due to homesickness.

Sandow wasn’t giving too much away on a possible suitor on Tuesday but St George Illawarra, Melbourne and Canterbury have been mentioned as possible destinations.

“I am not worried about it,” he told Sky Sports Radio.

“I have got a good manager and he’s been working on that, I am leaving it up to him.

“I am going to wait and see and let you guys wait on that I think.”

Asked to rate his confidence about an NRL return, Sandow said: “I would like to say medium but we just have to wait and see.

“Fingers crossed, that’s all I can say.”

Sandow sounded upbeat on Tuesday after last week not ruling out retirement.

He said there were no hard feelings with Warrington despite the send-off he received from coach Tony Smith.

The Wolves mentor described the ex-Eels No.7 as “erratic”, “a pain” and “unreliable” during his two season Super League stay after Sandow walked out on the club.

Sandow stood by his decision to return home, saying he wanted to be with family following the death of his uncle a year ago.

“Everyone has a reason. Mine was pretty unfortunate, with my family,” Sandow said.

“But Warrington are a good club. I don’t advise against anyone going and checking out Super League.”

Sandow said he could empathise with James Segeyaro who has walked out on Super League giants Leeds.

The Rhinos plan to sue Segeyaro and have reportedly put a $425,000 transfer fee on his head, hindering an NRL return.

“It’s hard (relocating to England),” Sandow said.

“I don’t mind the weather and there is a good brand of footy being played – it’s just a long way from home.

“I made a lot of close friends over there.

“I just had a few personal issues with family, that’s one of the reasons I have come back home.”

Sandow’s priority is Friday night’s charity fight against former NRL bad boy Todd Carney at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion.

“It would be good to knock him out,” Sandow said.
