Sandow free to look for another NRL club

Parramatta have reportedly told halfback Chris Sandow that he can leave immediately if he can find another NRL club.

The development, reported by Fairfax Media on Thursday night, comes after Sandow criticised coach Brad Arthur on Wednesday at a club event.

“If he lets me play how I want to play, we’ll win more games,” Sandow said.

“What got me into the NRL is my own style of footy … it’s the NRL, I should be adapting to his style of footy, but everyone doesn’t come to see me play structured footy.”

The Eels were already unlikely to re-sign Sandow when his contract expires, as he has been in and out of first grade since moving from South Sydney as a big-money signing in 2012, having struggled with a weight problem and gambling issues.

The Gold Coast shape as his most likely option in the NRL, with the Titans looking for a halfback following Daly Cherry-Evans’ decision last week to remain at Manly.
