England mentor Steve McNamara has joined the coaching staff of NRL premiers the Sydney Roosters.
McNamara has signed a two-year deal and will join Jason Taylor and Craig Fitzgibbon as assistants to coach Trent Robinson, the Roosters announced on Saturday.
The 42-year-old former Braford Bulls boss will continue as England coach, a role he’s had since 2010.
McNamara replaces Paul Green at the Roosters after the former halfback took a head coaching position at North Queensland.
Robinson is thrilled to have the Englishman on board.
“I have known Steve a long time and he will do a great job rounding out our team, alongside Jason Taylor and Craig Fitzgibbon,” Robinson said in a club statement.
“Steve is a coach with huge integrity and I’m looking forward to him applying his knowledge and contributing to our development at the Sydney Roosters in 2014.”
