Roosters’ Arona only NRL player charged

Sydney Roosters forward Tinirau Arona was the only player charged by the NRL match review committee on Monday from round 14 but will escape suspension if he takes the early plea for a kneeing charge.

Arona was slapped with a grade-one dangerous contact charge for unnecessary use of the knees on Brisbane’s Nick Slyney in the Roosters 40-22 defeat by the Broncos at Allianz Stadium on Sunday.

If he takes the plea, Arona will be free to play in the struggling Roosters’ next clash with Wests Tigers on Sunday at Leichhardt Oval.
