Rooster Guerra breaks cheekbone: report

Sydney Roosters forward Aidan Guerra will reportedly be out of NRL action until next month after suffering a broken cheekbone in Sunday’s 20-12 loss to Cronulla at Allianz Stadium.

Guerra is believed to have suffered the injury just before halftime when the Sharks had led 4-0.

He stayed down in back play and was taken from the field for a concussion assessment but, according to Fairfax Media, Roosters officials confirmed he had suffered a cheekbone break and would undergo surgery on Monday to insert a plate.

Roosters chief executive Brian Canavan said the Queensland State of Origin back-rower would be sidelined for several weeks.
