Rhyse Martin set to depart NRL’s Bulldogs

Canterbury back-rower Rhyse Martin is expected to depart the NRL club after it’s believed he requested a release to join the English Super League.

The goal-kicking forward was named on the bench for the Bulldogs’ clash with Cronulla at ANZ Stadium on Sunday however was replaced an hour before kick-off by debutant Brandon Wakeham.

It’s understood he requested a release just hours before the expiry of the June 30 transfer deadline and is set to join Leeds.

He was re-signed by the Bulldogs last July on a one-year deal but is expected to exit the club.

Meanwhile, the Sharks have confirmed prop Aaron Woods will make his comeback from a fractured foot.
