Rein negotiations over at Dragons: report

Hooker Mitch Rein’s days at St George Illawarra appears to be numbered after negotiations reportedly ended between the player’s manager and the NRL club.

Rein is off-contract at the end of the season and is believed to have been asking for $450,000 per year on his next deal, $100,000 more than the Dragons were willing to offer according to News Corp.

The south coast junior was considered one of the next players in line to replace Robbie Farah in the No.9 jersey for NSW in State of Origin before a disappointing 2016 season.

The 26-year-old’s future could now come down to where Farah ends up once he is released by the Wests Tigers.

The Dragons are still believed to be interested in South Sydney’s Cameron McInnes, who is desperate to have a clearer picture on his future if Farah joins the Rabbitohs.

Farah has also been linked to Cronulla to replace the retiring Michael Ennis, which would leave the Dragons in limbo.
