Canberra back-rower Elliott Whitehead has avoided charge from the NRL over a high tackle on Penrith opposite Isaah Yeo.

Whitehead’s arm collected Yeo’s face early in the Raiders’ 22-12 semi-final win on Saturday.

Yeo left the field for a concussion test, he later returned, and Whitehead was put on report.

However Whitehead wasn’t cited by the match review committee on Sunday, as there were no charges from the GIO Stadium clash.

Penrith supremo Phil Gould, a long-term critic of the NRL’s judiciary system, appeared perplexed at the decision not to charge the England international.

“There you go,” Gould tweeted, alongside a copy of the NRL press release advising of no charges.

Whitehead will take his place in the Raiders’ side for Saturday night’s preliminary final against Melbourne at AAMI Park.
