South Sydney’s Kyle Turner holds nothing against the Rooster who chicken winged him.

But the young Rabbitohs second rower is nursing a stretched muscle but feared a more serious injury during Aidan Guerra’s arm-wrenching tackle in last week’s NRL final round clash.

“It was a bit scary at the time,” Turner said.

“I was hoping there was nothing wrong that would keep me out of this week’s game.”

Sydney Roosters prop Guerra was hit with a one-match ban for the ugly tackle and will sit out Saturday’s qualifying final against Penrith as a result.

Some may suggest the Roosters gave the Rabbitohs a taste of their own medicine, with Souths’ wrestling tactics coming under scrutiny last month when Ben Teo copped a four-match ban for a chicken wing tackle on Brisbane forward Sam Thaiday.

Turner said he hasn’t dwelled on the incident.

“I don’t think Aidan Guerra meant to do it intentionally,” he said.

“I don’t hold it against him.”

Turner was cleared of major damage and is set to make his finals debut in the qualifier against Manly on Friday.

“(It’s) just a stretched muscle. It’s all good now,” Turner said.

“I’ll strap it up, and keep icing and stretching it.”

Turner thinks the NRL should continue to monitor the chicken wing tackle because of its potential to injure.

“I think it needs to be watched carefully,” he said.

“Those kinds of tackles can do some damage.

“And it doesn’t take much to do it.”

Turner, who made his NRL debut this year, admits to butterflies as he looks forward to his first finals appearance.

“I’m pumped up, nervous,” he said.
