Queensland Maroons odds shorten in 2014 State Of Origin betting

As the Maroons prepare to announce their squad for game 1, online bookmaker Sportingbet can report that 70% of all money wagered on the 2014 State Of Origin series winner is for Queensland to make it nine straight.

Since betting commenced on the 2014 series winner directly after game 3 last year, Queensland has been backed from $1.70 into $1.47. During the same period, the odds of New South Wales breaking a nine-year series drought have drifted from $2.15 to a current all-time high of $2.70.

“Our punters are giving the Blues considerably less hope of winning this year than what they did in 2013. Heading into game one last year, the Maroons were only marginal favourites for the series win and we were receiving more or less equal money for both sides,” Sportingbet’s Andrew Brown said.

Queensland is a clear-cut $1.45 at Sportingbet to win game one, with New South Wales $2.80.
