Canterbury enforcer Frank Pritchard and Newcastle’s Timana Tahu each face a week on the sidelines after being charged by the NRL match review committee over round-one incidents.
Pritchard was charged with a grade-one careless high tackle for his shot which left Penrith winger David Simmons concussed, while Tahu has been hit with a grade-one contrary conduct charge for use of the knee on St George Illawarra’s Matt Prior.
Pritchard’s charge only carries a base penalty of 75 points, but the Bulldogs’ second-rower has incurred a 50 per cent loading for having a similar charge last season – a high shot on Cronulla five-eighth Wade Graham.
The New Zealand international also has a further 68 carry-over points remaining from that penalty, meaning he will miss this Saturday’s clash with the Dragons even with an early guilty plea.
A previous charge also means Tahu will miss the Knights’ clash with Cronulla on Sunday, whether or not he pleads guilty.
Penrith prop Dayne Weston also copped a grade-one careless high tackle on Bulldogs’ prop James Graham but is free to face the Sydney Roosters on Sunday.
Melbourne’s star fullback Billy Slater escaped punishment for his high shot on Canberra custodian Josh Dugan.
