Just five rounds remain in his debut NRL campaign as a coach and Mick Potter has the air of a man who can’t wait for the nightmare to end.
Sadly, his players appear to have the same mindset following Sunday’s 36-6 thrashing by Gold Coast.
Out-enthused, out-run and out-hustled by a makeshift Titans team who had lost their past four matches, the Tigers’ woes were all too evident.
Now as Mad Monday draws ever closer for Potter’s team, he wants them to deliver something for the fans before heading off on their holidays.
“You’ve got nothing but pride to play for,” he said.
“To show the fans there is some will to win within the group. That’s what we need to show.
“I thought the other team were just far, far more desperate than us to get the two points. They needed to get the two points and it showed.”
Next up for Potter’s wounded Tigers is a clash against the only team below them on the ladder, Parramatta, on Friday night.
A finger injury to skipper Robbie Farah will be assessed in Sydney on Monday but Potter expects an improved display with or without the NSW Origin star.
“We want to show what we can do,” he said.
“It doesn’t mean anything for this year’s competition but it means something for our confidence.”
