Pearce loses Roosters captaincy

Sydney Roosters halfback Mitchell Pearce has officially been stood down as Sydney Roosters co-captain and removed from the NRL team’s leadership group.

The NSW star is battling to save his career following his behaviour on Australia Day when he was filmed simulating sex with a dog after a drunken day out.

Pearce returned from a rehabilitation centre in Thailand on Sunday and is waiting to find out what his punishment will be from the NRL, who are almost certain to issue him with a fine and suspension.
