Often-maligned NSW playmaker Mitchell Pearce will get his shot at State of Origin redemption after Nathan Cleary was ruled out because injury.
Cleary was racing against the clock to be cleared of an ankle injury which he suffered in Origin II.
Pearce, who has failed in his previous seven attempts to win a series, will be rushed into camp for the July 10 decider at ANZ Stadium.
