Peachey to join Panthers in NRL in 2014

Cronulla youngster Tyrone Peachey will join a new-look Penrith side next season after signing a two-year deal with the NRL club.

The 21-year-old nephew of retired Sharks icon David Peachey has played two NRL games since making his debut with Cronulla in round 10.

The new contract, announced on Monday, means Peachey will be at the Panthers until the end of the 2015 season.

“I’m really excited to be coming to Penrith, and I appreciate the club taking an interest in me and my playing future,” he said in a statement.

“They believe I have a promising future in first grade and that’s a good feeling.

“The squad has a good mix of experienced players and fresh faces, and I’m keen to meet the boys and play some good football.”

Panthers general manager of rugby league Phil Moss said Peachey’s versatility will bring an added spark to the side.

The deal follows last week’s re-signing of hitmen Nigel Plum and Adam Docker.
