Payout talks delay Toovey’s exit: report

Manly coach Geoff Toovey has reportedly been handed at least a 24-hour stay of execution after he and the club failed to reach a payout settlement on Monday.

A meeting was held to finalise the details of Toovey’s imminent departure – set to be announced this week – but according to News Corp Australia reports parties couldn’t quite finalise the deal.

The embattled Sea Eagles mentor is expected to remain at Brookvale until the end of the season, with Penrith assistant and Country Origin mentor Trent Barrett set to be named as the incoming coach.
