Parramatta Eels vs Sydney Roosters 2014 NRL Round 6 preview, tips and teams

The Eels head into this game coming off their third win of the season after defeating the Broncos in Brisbane last week, 25 – 18.

It followed a similarly impressive performance over the Panthers at home in round 4 and they’ll head into this match full of confidence.

However, in their past three matches against the Roosters, the Eels have only amassed 28 points in comparison to the Roosters’ 144!

Parramatta have been wiped off the park in two of the past three encounters between these two sides, the most recent coming in only round 2 of this season which resulted in an embarrassing 56 – 4 loss.

It continued a poor record against the Roosters that have seen Parramatta only win two of the eight games played between the clubs since 2008.

The pluses for Parramatta are that they’re undefeated at home this year and after the round 2 capitulation, have been impressive in each outing.

They’ll be out to end the rot against the Roosters and keen to test themselves in their current form, against one of the benchmark teams in the competition.

The Roosters, for the second week in a row, were involved in a real arm-wrestle last week against the Canterbury Bulldogs.

Unfortunately for the Chooks though, as they did the week before against Manly (8 – 0), they came up just short and suffered their third loss of the season, 9 – 8.

Although played in trying conditions, it is surprising to note that the reigning premiers have only cracked more than ten points in a game twice this season.

They’ll take comfort though that one of those games, as mentioned above, was against Parramatta back in round 2 but in the month since that game, Parramatta form-line reads very similar to that of the Roosters and includes a narrow loss to the Sea Eagles and a win over the Broncos.

The Roosters defeated the Broncos – with a try in the dying moment, and loss to Manly.

Parramatta is a better team at home and will have built up some nice momentum in recent weeks, they’ll back themselves here and when they do, as displayed last week, can really test sides, especially with Fui Fui Moi Moi back in the side this week from injury – Parramatta’s only change.

The Roosters have the knowledge that they’ve handled Parramatta consistently and more often than not easily, in the past and with full compliment of players for the first time since round one, they should be a shade to strong.
