When: 18:00 | Friday 18/05/2018

Where: ANZ Stadium, Sydney

Preview:

Where to next for Brad Arthur?Sitting stone cold last, the Eels again failed to capitalise on the opportunities  they set themselves last week.

Look for some wholesale changes or the axe to swing to get some sort of reaction.

It doesn’t get any easier however with the Warriors coming off a 32-point thumping.

They have proven this year they can bounce back strongly after a loss.

Whether that happens in round 11 is still yet to be seen.

When a scoreline like that is put on you, it’s embarrassing and you can’t wait to get back out there again.

Add Shaun Johnson and Issac Luke to the fray and they’ll be dialled in.
They still have got to pass a few tests but are a massive chance.

KEY BATTLE: Ken Maumalo v Bevan French

The battle of the two electric wingers will be one to watch, Ken Maumalo v Bevan French.

Both freakish try scorers and will again look to light up the stadium.

The Verdict

I like the overall look of the Warriors in a close one.

The Warriors have a 4-3 (57.1 percent) O/U record playing interstate as a favourite since 2015.

NRL News:

Six years after the boldest of bold claims about what the Warriors can achieve, the perennial NRL strugglers are firing again.

Chief executive Cameron George raised more than a few eyebrows on Tuesday with some unprompted claims about how high the Auckland club can climb.

Back in 2012, former co-owners Eric Watson and Owen Glenn declared the Warriors would become the biggest and most successful sports franchise in the southern hemisphere.

They haven’t made the finals since, however, emboldened by a surprisingly strong start to the season, George feels the pieces are now in place for the Warriors to become a regular competition heavyweight.

“Our future’s looking really bright when you look at the brains trust we have here … and now throw Peter O’Sullivan in there, there’s going to be a lot of clubs looking over their shoulders,” George said.

He says hiring renowned recruiter O’Sullivan, subject to registration from the NRL, is a coup and completes the strongest staff in Warriors history, alongside coach Stephen Kearney and veterans like general manager of football Brian Smith and conditioning coach Alex Corvo.

“He’ll re-shape and he’ll rebuild what we have here and make sure we have a powerhouse club going forward with a really strong roster that’s competitive every year.

“I can promise you this is part of the juggernaut that we’re building for the Warriors.”

The Warriors are in third place to start 2018 and there has been a steep upward trend in crowd figures, television audiences and merchandise sales.

And the club’s new owners, an arm of the Auckland Rugby League, have made it a priority to attract the best local talent.
