News:

The Bulldogs have welcomed James Graham’s fire-and-brimstone approach to the captaincy, calling his massive spray behind the goalline a wake-up call.

After delivering an address to his teammates that would have peeled the paint off the walls, Graham spurred his side to a golden point NRL victory against Gold Coast on the weekend.

While it looked like a furious attack, winger Sam Perrett said because Graham demands such respect and gives everything of himself, his teammates heeded the call.

“He’s the kind of guy that if he says something, he will deliver himself,” Perrett said.

“He wears his heart on his sleeve. No one thinks twice about what he’s asking or takes it personally.

“We also have guys like Josh Morris and Aiden Tolman, Josh Jackson, our halves both Josh Reynolds and Moses (Mbye) – they have this very calming vibe.

“When you couple those two things together, you get everyone pumped then you get everyone focused and `this is what we need to do’, they have these complimentary energies and that’s another real cool thing about our team.”

After Josh Hoffman races 80 metres to score off a mis-timed Reynolds bat-back to let the Titans level the scores on Saturday, the northern Englishman unloaded with both barrels.

Forward Tim Browne said Graham’s spray was nothing out of the ordinary – and he often let his feelings known on the training track.

However he said while Graham’s blow ups weren’t rare, they were never personal.

“It’s not a personal attack on anyone,” Browne said.

“We see it during the week, during any field session he’ll do the same thing.

“It’s the way he plays the game. He just asks us to take a good look at ourselves and I enjoy it personally and I know other guys feed off it.”
