Parker pain over Origin II omission

Queensland veteran Corey Parker felt helpless watching the Maroons’ State of Origin dynasty coming to an end in Sydney.

Parker was forced to sit out Origin II in June with a facial fracture and concedes it was hard watching his teammates go down 6-4, which enabled NSW to claim their first Origin series win in nine years.

The 32-year-old will return to the back-row for the Origin finale in Brisbane next Wednesday, and says he’s determined to take out his frustrations on the Blues.

“It’s frustrating from the sense that you just can’t lend a hand, you’re helpless,” Parker told AAP.

“That was certainly how I felt and obviously disappointed when the end of the game came and we had lost.

“It was disappointing but it’s good to be back in camp with the boys.”

Parker says there was no way he was going to miss next week’s match, despite the seriousness of his injury.

He hasn’t featured since injuring his face against Canberra for Brisbane before Origin II, but is confident he’ll have no problems with the fracture.

“It’s tough enough to be ruled out, to be ruled out twice would be even worse,” he said.

“There’s no hesitation, mate.”
