Origin hero Farah set for big NRL showing

Robbie Farah’s impressive 63-tackle State of Origin onslaught won’t stop him putting in a top-class performance for Wests Tigers on Sunday, his teammates say.

The NSW hooker proved his worth in NSW’s game-two win in Sydney on Wednesday night, eclipsing the Origin tackle record previously held by Dallas Johnson for Queensland.

Wests Tigers winger – and Queenslander – Lote Tuqiri applauded his captain’s composure on the field against a tough opposition.

“He was awesome last night,” Tuqiri said.

“The way he handled himself on the field – they threw him plenty of traffic – and put his hand up and did the job.

“I think he’s cemented his position (in the NSW squad) – at least for next year, I think, anyway.”

Tuqiri said Farah appeared well after a recovery session and massage on Thursday, where he was congratulated by his teammates.

“The boys were high-fiving him, patting him on the back on how he played,” Tuqiri said.

“I think he even said he should’ve got man of the match.”

The winger didn’t think Wednesday’s hard slog would take its toll on Farah ahead of Sunday’s round-15 match against the Sydney Roosters.

“I don’t think so – he’s a professional,” Tuqiri said.

“He’s been around for a while and he knows we want him to step up again.

“He always turns up for Leichhardt anyway, so he’ll be good to go.”
