O’Farrell confident Qld flag won’t fly

Chipper after the Blues’ victory, NSW Premier Barry O’Farrell says he’s confident Queensland’s flag won’t be flying over the Harbour Bridge come the State of Origin decider on July 4.

NSW defeated the Maroons 16-12 in a thrilling Origin II contest at Sydney’s ANZ Stadium on Wednesday night.

It levelled the series at one match apiece and set up the final match in Brisbane as a nail biting finale.

Mr O’Farrell said he has made the traditional annual wager with Queensland’s Premier (Campbell Newman) on the outcome of the series.

The loser is forced to fly the winner’s flag in either Sydney or Brisbane.

“I’m a bit happier after last night that we won’t again have to see that Queensland flag above the Harbour Bridge,” he told reporters.

“The team did magnificently last night, led magnificently by (captain) Paul Gallen.

“We’ve climbed the mountain – we’ve won one – and in front of us is Everest.”
