Oates hungry for Origin debut

Queensland hopeful Corey Oates says watching his Brisbane teammates play in the trans-Tasman Test has fuelled his desire to play State of Origin football this year.

The towering winger has been tipped to feature in a reshuffled Maroons backline without Billy Slater (shoulder), Will Chambers (foot) and Justin Hodges (retirement) after sensational NRL form.

“To play at that level is a great honour and seeing them there makes you want to get there yourself,” he said ahead of Brisbane’s Saturday night Suncorp Stadium clash with Manly as part of the NRL double header.
