NRL’S LATEST OFF-FIELD SUMMER OF WOE

* October 13, 2019: Nelson Asofa-Solomona (Melbourne Storm)

Served a three-game ban – all at Test level – and hit with a suspended $15,000 fine for his role in a violent brawl outside Bali nightclub La Favela. The Storm forward later claimed he was defending teammate Suliasi Vunivalu, who was king hit.

* October 25, 2019: Manase Fainu (Manly Sea Eagles)

Fainu was automatically stood down by the NRL after being charged over an alleged stabbing during a brawl at a Mormon church function. Fainu has pleaded not guilty to charges of wounding a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, affray and recklessly causing grievous bodily harm in company. He returns to court on February 3.

* November 8, 2019: David Fifita (Brisbane Broncos)

Spent three days inside a police cell in Bali after allegedly assaulting a security guard outside the same Bali nightclub, but in a separate incident, as Asofa-Solomona. Reportedly paid $30,000 to his accuser to secure his freedom, but later escaped sanction by the NRL integrity unit due to inconclusive evidence.

* December 12, 2019: Josh Reynolds (Wests Tigers)

Reynolds has been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily hard relating to an alleged domestic violence incident. He has pleaded not guilty and returns to court on July 23. The NRL integrity unit has yet to make a decision on whether the Tigers utility will be stood down.

* December 28, 2019: Maika Sivo (Parramatta Eels)

Sivo is facing a charge of indecent assault relating to an alleged incident at a Fijian resort on Boxing Day. He was initially detained in his home country but was eventually allowed to fly back and train with the Eels. He returns to court on February 17, after which a penalty is likely to be handed down by his club.

* January 26, 2020: Joe Ofahengaue (Brisbane Broncos)

The Broncos informed the NRL integrity unit about a driving infringement involving Ofahengaue. The Broncos forward was reported to have been charged with being in control of a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol after being found sleeping in his car. He is expected to be fined by the club.

* January 27, 2020: Curtis Scott (Canberra Raiders)

Scott is alleged to have kicked and punched a police officer and had to be tasered while being arrested following Australia Day celebrations. The Raiders recruit is facing six charges, including two counts of assaulting a police officer, and resisting arrest. The NRL integrity unit has yet to make a decision on his future. Will appear in court on February 20.
