NRL’s Klemmer to contest ref-touch ban

Canterbury’s David Klemmer will contest his contrary conduct charge at the NRL judiciary on Wednesday night, although Brisbane’s James Roberts will escape suspension for the same charge.

Roberts was the second player charged for making contact with a referee on the weekend, however will be free to play if he takes the early guilty plea.

A total of ten charges were made by the match review committee on Monday, two of which were against Canberra centre Joey Leilua for a dangerous throw and contrary conduct. He faces a maximum four-game ban.
