NRL to tighten shoulder charge laws

NRL boss Dave Smith says shoulder charge rules will be tightened so that any offence will result in a suspension.

The move follows heated debate after Sydney Roosters forward Kane Evans escaped a charge from the match review committee for his shoulder charge which floored Canterbury prop Sam Kasiano on Friday.

“No place at all for the shoulder charge in the game @NRL. The rules will tighten such that if you put a hit on you’ll be on the sideline,” Smith tweeted on Thursday.

Evans received an official warning from the match review committee for his hit.
