NRL Tigers’ Simona facing two weeks out

Wests Tigers centre Tim Simona is facing a two-week NRL suspension for a crusher tackle on Cronulla’s Jack Bird.

Simona was slapped with a grade two dangerous contact charge for an incident late in the Tigers’ 34-26 loss at Campbelltown on Saturday.

He faces a fortnight out with an early guilty plea but would an extra week on the sideline if he unsuccessfully fights the charge.

Meanwhile, Warriors centre Solomone Kata is free to play this weekend if he accepts an early guilty plea to a dangerous throw on Sydney Roosters opposite Blake Ferguson.
