Penrith utility Tyrone May has been given the green light to play in Saturday’s trial against Wests Tigers despite being banned for five NRL games.

May was on Tuesday named in a 26-man Panthers squad, that includes fellow playmakers Jarome Luai and Matt Burton, to host the Tigers.

It will be the first time May plays a rugby league game since being stood down under the league’s controversial no-fault stand-down policy last March.

The 23-year-old narrowly avoided jail time last month after pleading guilty to four counts of intentionally recording an intimate image without consent.

He was placed under a three-year good behaviour bond and ordered to perform 300 hours of community service.

The NRL later handed May an additional five-game ban, which doesn’t apply to pre-season matches, while he was fined 25 per cent of his salary by Penrith.

His last NRL appearance was in Penrith’s semi-final defeat to Cronulla in 2018.
