TAB has installed Penrith as favourites for the NRL Grand Final at Suncorp Stadium after upstaging the Storm 10-6 in a thrilling Preliminary Final.
The Panthers have opened at $1.60 with South Sydney $2.40 outsiders with TAB.
Penrith and Souths started the season as joint $5.50 Premiership favourites with the Panthers the best backed team to win the title all season. They held 29 percent of the Premiership market going into the weekend from Melbourne with 28 percent and the Rabbitohs 13 percent.
Melbourne had close to 90 percent of the Head-to-Head hold for the Grand Final qualifier against Penrith with several large bets, including one of $65,000 at $1.33 before kick-off.
