North Queensland Cowboys vs St. George Illawarra Dragons Preview

Finals hopes may be fading, but pride will be on the line when the North Queensland Cowboys host the St. George Illawarra Dragons in Townsville on Friday evening. Both sides are enduring tough runs, with the Cowboys winning just one of their past seven and the Dragons reeling from three narrow losses, including last week’s 20-18 heartbreak against the Bulldogs.

North Queensland were blown away by the Dolphins in Round 19, conceding 43 points in a defensive collapse that underlined their recent woes. The Dragons, meanwhile, have at least remained competitive, with all three recent defeats decided by six points or less.

Team changes could shake things up — the Cowboys welcome John Bateman, Robert Derby and Thomas Duffy into the starting side, while the Dragons’ only adjustment sees Mathew Feagai return for the injured Sione Finau. With little to lose, expect both teams to throw plenty at each other in search of overdue relief.
