No NRL charge for Glenn Stewart

Manly back-rower Glenn Stewart is free to play for NSW in next week’s State of Origin opener after the NRL match review committee ruled he had no case to answer for a high shot on Brisbane’s Corey Norman.

Stewart was penalised but not placed on report for the incident in the first half of Friday night’s victory over Brisbane when he caught Norman in the head with what appeared to be a swinging arm.

Canterbury’s Sam Kasiano was the only player charged on Monday from round 10 action with the big prop free to play against Cronulla next Monday if he takes the early plea for a grade one dangerous contact with the shoulder during Friday night’s loss to Gold Coast.

Kasiano was placed on report for the hit on Luke O’Dwyer early in the second half of the Suncorp Stadium clash.

Sydney Roosters forward Boyd Cordner has escaped suspension after he was placed on report for a tackle on Warrior’s back Jerome Ropati in the first half of the match at Mt Smart Stadium.
