NSW utility Jack Bird has no issue with players being forced to back up to play NRL matches just days after State of Origin.

Blues coach Laurie Daley said last week it was cruel players had to play again on a short turnaround, and called for stand-alone weekends, but Cronulla’s Bird said there was no issue to be fixed.

“That’s what we do for a living. If you’re not up to it, then don’t play Origin. You either play one or you don’t,” Bird said.
