Mose Masoe says he holds no hard feelings towards Penrith’s Travis Burns despite his chicken wing tackle on the Sydney Roosters prop during Sunday’s NRL clash at Centrebet Stadium on Sunday.
Burns is facing a potential 17-week ban following the incident coupled with his send off for a high tackle on Roosters front-rower Martin Kennedy.
Masoe, who went into the game with an injection to ease the pain from a pre-existing injury to his left shoulder joint, thought he’d sustained some serious damage at the time of the incident, but was unaware Burns was responsible.
“I didn’t even notice it on the field,” Masoe said on Tuesday.
“I have nothing against him because whatever happens on the field, stays on the field in my eyes.
“I was sore – I thought at the time I had re-aggravated my existing injury. I knew my arm was at the back of me but didn’t realise what had happened until I saw the replay.”
Masoe said he’s never used the chicken wing during a game and he’d never been asked to by a member of the coaching staff at the Roosters.
“It’s not something we do here, and it is not something we want to do,” he said.
“I have never been in a situation to try to do a chicken wing.”
Despite the severity of the situation facing Burns, Masoe said he was disappointed that the former Manly and North Queensland player is facing such a long ban.
“I never want to see a player sit out for so long. I shook his hand after the game, so there is no hard feelings from me,” he said.
