Nielsen stood down by Dragons

Centre Dane Nielsen has been stood down by St George Illawarra for a code of conduct breach.

Nielsen was not named in the Dragons’ side to meet Manly in round four of the NRL this weekend.

“Dane Nielsen has not been named in any team this week due to a breach of the club’s code of conduct and the NRL Integrity Unit has been informed,” the club said in a statement.

The NRL has left the matter in the hands of the Dragons to investigate.

The integrity unit will only step in if it is unsatisfied with the way St George Illawarra have dealt with the matter.

The Dragons statement did not specify the nature of the code of conduct breach.

After an unhappy two seasons with the Warriors after a move from Melbourne, Nielsen joined the Dragons this year.

The former Queensland centre played in the Dragons’ opening two games before being dropped for last weekend’s win over Canberra.
