Nathan Brown tipped to be Newcastle Knights next coach

As the Knights put the sword to Rick Stone today, a former Dragon emerged as the front-runner to take over according to online bookmaker WilliamHill.com.au

Having only got a part time role at the Strom in 2015, former St George-Illawarra, Huddersfield and St Helens Coach Nathan Brown has been installed as the $3.00 favourite.

Club legend Danny Buderus is next in-line at $3.50, while Geoff Toovey ($5) may not have to look for a new job for very long should the Knights look to the Manly legend to take charge.

“It’s been a rough few years for the Knights, but if anyone is going to slap them into form it’s going to be Nathan Brown. He’s passionate, experienced and has been sniffing around for another crack at the NRL for some time and we think he’s due a shot,” William Hill’s Tim Ashworth said.

Queensland legend and Wayne Bennett’s right hand man at the Broncos, Kevin Walters, is under double-digits at $5.00. So to Penrith Assistant, Garth Brennan, who is a $7.00 shot after missing out to Stone last time.

The eighth immortal and Newcastle’s own Andrew Johns is a $51 outsider.
