Morris re-signs with NRL Dragons

St George Illawarra have re-signed prolific NRL try-scorer Brett Morris for three more seasons.

The Test and NSW winger, who has scored 75 tries in 107 games for the Dragons since debuting in 2006, has extended his deal with the club until the end of the 2015 season.

The move is a considerable boost for the Dragons, who have been hit hard in the past off-season with the loss of key backs Darius Boyd (Newcastle) and Mark Gasnier (retirement).

It is also a ringing endorsement of new coach Steve Price, who faces a tough task stepping into the role vacated by super coach Wayne Bennett who has also joined the Knights.

“I’ve always wanted to continue my playing career with the Dragons having played all my junior football in and around the Illawarra area,” Morris said in a statement.

“I’m looking forward to working under head coach Steve Price, who has a lot of fresh ideas for the direction of the team, and cant wait for the season to start.”

Dragons chief executive Peter Doust applauded Morris’ decision to re-sign with the club.

“Brett is an important member of our playing group and we are very happy he has chosen to extend his career here with the club,” Doust said.
