Milford to play for Raiders in 2014

In-demand NRL young gun Anthony Milford has confirmed he will stay with Canberra next season.

The Raiders on Wednesday said Milford will see out the final season of his contract in 2014, despite previously requesting a release from the club to be closer to his ill father in Brisbane.

“We acknowledge that Anthony has battled homesickness and is very close to his family however we are pleased that he will be playing for our club in 2014,” Canberra chief executive Don Furner said in a statement.

Nineteen-year-old Milford is currently on holiday in Samoa, having played for the island nation at the Rugby League World Cup.

He will return to pre-season training with the Raiders on December 16.

However it is widely expected that Milford will link up with Brisbane from 2015, tipped to be announced at a Broncos press conference later on Wednesday.
